Roanoke Times & World News

_Early 1990's, living in Blacksburg, Virginia, I was a freelance stringer for the Roanoke Times & World News, a paper serving the Virginia region and NOVA Northern Virginia and the Washington DC area. Headlines and captions are crucial frames for stories. I surprised the fellow responsible for them once by simply thanking him. A thanks to Beth Obenshein for bringing me onboard; the staff writers and curmudgeons who gave me laughs. A tip o’ the hat goes to a great editor, Ray Reed.
